Pregnant Skeleton Halloween Costume

It’s October!  That means I can share Halloween costumes finally!

I’ll first share an original of mine, although I must admit I saw the idea many years ago on the grand Internet.  I never could find the example again when I searched for it though.

OH — and just to clarify, NO I’m not pregnant!  I wore this costume 2 years ago when I was pregnant with Julia.  Now I wish I had gotten Elena into a skeleton costume too — would have been so much cuter!  But she was still a great spider!  (costume from Pottery Barn Kids).

If you’re pregnant and want to do this yourself, it is pretty darn easy.

Buy some white fabric, some Heat ‘n Bond Ultra Hold (no sew!), and a long-sleeved black maternity shirt.

I put the Heat ‘n Bond on the white fabric, drew out the skeleton on the Heat ‘n Bond (I looked at some drawn skeletons to figure mine out), cut it all out and ironed it onto my shirt.  NO SEWING.  It is a bit fiddly with the little pieces, so isn’t necessarily fast, but pretty easy.

It lasted well throughout the Halloween season.  I made some for others last year and never heard any complaints, so I assume theirs held well too.

As an aside, I originally tried doing it just with contact paper.  That was a HUGE failure.  It all peeled off as soon as I tried the costume on.

Have fun with it if you do it!  It is probably my favorite costume that *I* have ever worn!

P.S.:  I just *love* Elena’s hair in pigtails, and miss it so!  Just not quite possible now with her curly long hair, and Julia has a tendency to eat little things, so I’ve never really been able to do the pigtail thing with her.
